  • Secondary Treatment: The secondary treatment of industrial wastewater concentrates on the biological phase. This stage uses physical and biochemical processes to break down organic compounds using activated sludge systems, biofilters, and lagoons. Microorganisms can break down micropollutants and thereby change them into gentler substances.


  • Tertiary Treatment: Tertiary treatment is yet another treatment level that is even more developed. Its goal is to remove or decrease the remaining pollution, including ammonia and phosphates. They include sedimentation, chemical precipitation, coagulation-flocculation, and membrane techniques, which include reverse osmosis. This stage ensures that the water to be discharged or re-used meets the specifications stipulated in the environmental code.


  • Sludge Treatment and Disposal: The treatment process produces sludge containing more pollutants than the original water. Sludge management is critical, as any thoughtless disposal can dramatically affect the environment. These are dewatering, digestion, and incineration.
